About the WM Devotional Books
I have enjoyed the women's devotionals ever
since they were first conceived and published. They have added a special
blessing to my devotional time....I want to thank you for allowing God to
use you in His battlefield and may He continue to bless the work that you
are doing for Him.
Tamara Marquez de Smith, USA
As frequently witnessed in your
devotionals, there are often small incidents that stand out in our minds
and memory, events that could never be explained or understood if not for
our absolute faith and trust in God and His leading....May God continue
blessing you in your work of spreading His grace to others and touching
our hearts in this unique way.
Paulette Cox Johnson, USA

From WM Scholarship Recipients
I would like to thank all the ladies that
offered their time, writing talents, experiences, and money to allow me to
be awarded a Women's Ministries scholarship.... I feel honored ...and I am
committed to returning the blessing to others in need in every way I can
throughout my lifetime.
Heather Runyon, NAD
I'm so glad and I thank God because He
hears all my prayers. It was two years ago when we applied for a
scholarship although I had no assurance, still I decided to study...I had
a heart broken until a class mate told me the good news about the
scholarship... Please send my greetings to my unknown sponsors.
Cynthia T. Ladran, SSD
Bless you for your sacrifice of time and
money to help me and other young women to get through school. I will
follow your example in helping others. Thank you again for investing in me
and other young people. You are truly making a difference in the future of
our church.
Tara J. Vinyard, NAD
I am gratefully presenting my thanks to you
for helping me meet my tuition... and I want to assure you that I will be
on the degree of your expectations. Finally, may the blessing of our
beloved Lord be with you.
Reine Nakhleh, TED

always the great sacrifice.

Winners and Losers
"The winners in life think constantly in terms of I can, I will, and I
am. Losers, on the other hand, concentrate their waking thoughts on
what they should have or would have done, or what they can't do. "

News from the
world of . . .
Africa Indian Ocean Division: Women's Ministries has
finished the Health and Literacy project that GC WM funded last year. Two
graduations were held for the 88 women and 16 men. Ellen Mayr, Director of
the project, and WM director for the Sahel Union, reports that three wives
of two of the village chiefs finished the course as well as one of the
village Notables (counselors to the chief). He "received a
certificate of his accomplishment and was very happy." Every student
received a New Testament in Ewe, the local language, and proudly showed
how they could read. Not only did the students learn how to read and
write, but they learned about health, hygiene and nutrition, and Bible
stories as well. The teachers say they have seen a change in the villages
as a result students are practicing what they learned. Mayr is hoping to
begin a literacy program in the Lome Prison women's ward and Children's
Brigade (prison for children).
Euro-Africa Division: "I just wanted to let you know
that the WM colloquium in Portugal, in which I participated as the guest
speaker, was a great success," reports Odette Ferreira, director of
Adventist Colleges Abroad in the North American Division. She reports that
"it was one of the best of that kind I ever attended or participated
in." She says that she marveled at the professional level of all
meetings and that the speakers were extremely well prepared. The women in
Portugal are starting a literacy program and have many health programs.
WM in Portugal is under the direction of Maria Rosa Nunes.
Euro-Asia Division: Olga Murga, an evangelist in the
division, reports that as a result her latest meetings in Kiev, 100 were
baptized. These meetings were targeted to the youth and all 66 women and
34 men were between the ages of 17 and 40. This brings the total of
baptisms from Murga's meetings to 1311.
North American Division: Women from Ontario and Quebec
joined for the 10th anniversary celebration of Women's Ministries in the
Ontario Conference. The women fellowshipped, worshiped and were nurtured
emotionally, spiritually and physically by the keynote speaker Hazel
Gordon and musicians Jacquiline Croumel-Ross and Gale Murphy, and seven
workshops.
Correction: The drama "I Met Jesus" reported in the May issue
of News from the World of Women's Ministries was presented by the women
from the Gulf States Conference, not Georgia-Cumberland, as previously
reported.
Northern Asia-Pacific Division: Mary Wong reports that
the Korean Union has selected its first woman WM director: Mrs. Lee Seon
Mi, former assistant to the previous director, Pastor Kim Daw Song. We
welcome this new leader and pray for her work among the many gifted women
of Korea.
Trans-European Division: Birthe Kendel reports that 12 of
the 16 unions now have an active Women's Ministries. Finland and Hungary
have relatively new leaders but work is progressing well. Poland, under
the leadership of Halina Jankowski, has now had WM retreats in all the
conferences. The Baltic Union has active ministries but only at the
conference level in Latvia and Lithuania.
